Right-of-Way/Property Acquisition Information
The Right-of-Way process is expected to be complete by October 2009. As of July 1, UDOT has made offers to approximately 45 percent of affected property owners and approved appraisals on roughly 53 percent of affected properties. This process is taking longer than originally estimated because of design challenges and the complexity of coordinating with multiple entities affected by construction (utilities, UTA/Union Pacific Railroad, etc.). Go to the Downloads page of this site to find a Right-of-Way Status fact sheet.

School Information
UDOT is working with the Jordan School District Transportation Department to develop safe and efficient plans for student transportation during construction. The Canyons School District transportation will use 700 West for bus routes and generally will not be affected by 11400 South construction. More information will be posted here when available.

Since a large portion of the project will take place near residences, UDOT presented safety information to students of elementary schools throughout the project area earlier this year. Please review the following safety rules with your children:

Safe Kids Know:

  • Work zones are for construction workers who have received special training and who wear safety equipment and clothing.
  • To stay in the safe area outside of the work zone. Don't go behind traffic cones, fences or barriers. There are dangers in the work zone that you may not see.
  • You may see workers, but the workers may not see you. Stay away from construction equipment whether or not it's running.
  • UDOT will work with your school to keep your route to school safe. Follow the directions of your teacher and parents by always using the safe route to school.

Safe Adults Know:

  • To be a safe and alert driver in work zones. Minimize distractions, keep a safe following distance, merge and change lanes safely, and pay attention to the road.
  • To follow the flagger's instructions and obey posted signs, including the posted speed limit.
  • To expect the unexpected. Be prepared to slow down. Watch for other vehicles slowing down or changing lanes unexpectedly, and keep an eye out for workers or equipment that may enter the road.

Business Information
UDOT offers a planning guide, "Partners for the Road Ahead", to businesses adjacent to transportation projects. Click here to download a copy of the guide, or call our project hotline at (801) 696-4865 to have a copy printed and mailed to your business. We strongly recommend that businesses join our email list for project updates and proactively share the information with their employees and customers.

Jordan River Parkway Trail Information
The 11400 South project includes a new pedestrian bridge and a bridge for vehicle traffic over the Jordan River. When available, we'll post more information about these improvements, related construction activities/schedules and impacts to trail access. UDOT is committed to mitigating impacts to the natural environment. Trail users should expect limited access for several months due to safety issues during construction.
