We are preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) to study potential improvements to the 24th Street Interchange and transportation corridor in the City of Ogden.  This study involves federal funds; therefore, the EA process must be conducted as outlined by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).  For more detailed information click here to visit the Federal Highway Administration's website.

With your help, we will work to define existing and future transportation needs in the study area and possible solutions to meet those needs.

We gather initial data and input from individuals and interested groups regarding issues that should be addressed during the study.  That data and input, along with current and projected traffic data is used to help define the transportation needs in the study area.

Transportation options and alternatives that effectively resolve the identified needs are developed.  You will have the opportunity to review, discuss, and provide feedback on the proposed alternatives at open houses and throughout the study.

We examine potential community, cultural, economic, and environmental concerns for each alternative.

A public open house is held to gather public input on the various alternatives. Public comments help refine the alternatives. 

Based on public input and other criteria, the alternatives are narrowed down to a preferred alternative(s).  Impacts are again analyzed.

A public hearing is held to present the preferred alternative(s) and the public is invited to provide further comment and feedback during a 30-day comment period.

A draft EA is prepared and submitted to UDOT, the City of Ogden, and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).  The draft document is also available for public review.  After another 30-day comment period, the final EA document is submitted to FHWA for a decision.  FHWA reviews the EA and issues either a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) or if they determine there are significant impacts, the study is elevated to an Environmental Impact Study (EIS).
