WELCOME TO THE I-215 AND 5400 SOUTH MOBILITY STUDY
UDOT conducted the first phase of the I-215 and 5400 South Study from March through October 2010. Previous studies showed the need to look closer at the study area because of traffic congestion, average speeds lower than the posted speed limit and a high number of vehicle miles traveled on the main roadways. The study is now on hold and will not resume until more funding is allocated. The study team will notify its contact list and update the study website if and when the study resumes. If you would like to be added to the study contact list, please send an email with the request.
In 2009, the Utah State Legislature approved a bill that funded the study's first phase. UDOT approached the study in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The NEPA process requires specific steps including the creation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
STUDY AREA
The study area runs from Redwood Road to 3200 West and from 4700 South to 6200 South in Salt Lake County.
STUDY PROCESS
The study team has completed Phase 1 by gathering information and public input, determining the purpose and need for improvements and, with the help of research and public input, narrowing possible improvement alternatives to seven. If funding is allocated, Phase 2 will include narrowing the alternatives to a preferred alternative and creating an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
Phase 2
Additional funding must be allocated to proceed to Phase 2.
