The US-89 Study area began at 2000 North in Orem
and ended at 100 East in American Fork. It
identified existing and future needs for
transportation improvements, assessed the
potential impacts, and developed a preferred
alternative. Working collaboratively with local
and state agencies, the project team selected a
preferred alternative which would widen State
Street to a consistent seven lanes and make
intersection improvements between 2000 North in
Orem and 500 East in American Fork. Between 500
East and 100 East in American Fork, the
preferred alternative would make intersection
improvements and construct raised medians in
order to improve safety and traffic operations.
The US-89 Study included a dynamic Public
Involvement Plan through which UDOT worked with
businesses and residents to gather valuable
input. The project team conducted numerous
one-on-one meetings, delivered presentations to
chamber and city council groups, and conducted
regular meetings with representatives of local
and state agencies.
Thank you for taking time to learn more about
the completed study.
