A New Bangerter Highway is Coming
Continuing this year, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will be making major improvements along Bangerter Highway between the airport and 13400 South.
The end result? An upgraded Bangerter Highway that incorporates the latest innovations in transportation mobility. This new version of Bangerter will improve the flow of traffic in all directions, save commuting time for drivers, and alleviate much of the current traffic congestion, all in an effort to help you get where you’re going.
1. 2100 South to Airport Pavement Preservation Project
This project, which is now complete, has improved the roadway surface and extended the life of the bridges along Bangerter Highway between the airport and 2100 South.
2. S.R. 201 Diverging Diamond Interchange
The project, which is now complete, added a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) at the intersection of S.R. 201 and Bangerter. This project also created another lane to the 3200 W. eastbound exit and I-215 southbound on-ramp.
3. Bangerter Highway and 3100 South CFI
This project reconstructed the intersection at 3100 South to a Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI), widen the road, add dual left turn lanes on 3100 South, add crossover left turn lanes and enhance the southbound right turn lane.
4. 3500 South Resurfacing Project
This project provided a smoother driving surface along 3500 South from Bangerter to 5600 West.
5. Bangerter Highway and 4100 South CFI
UDOT completed the installation of a four-legged CFI at the intersection of Bangerter Highway and 4100 South.
6. Bangerter Highway Resurfacing (4100 South to 6200 South
)
This concrete grind resurfacing project occurred over the summer of 2011 along Bangerter between 4100 South and 6200 South.
7. Bangerter Design-Build Project at 6200, 7000, 7800 South
From Spring 2011 to late Summer 2012, UDOT will reconfigure the intersections at 6200 South and 7000 South as CFIs, and will upgrade the intersection at 7800 South to a full, grade-separated interchange. The CFIs at 6200 South and 7000 South are now complete.
8. 7800 South Roadway Improvements Project (2700 West - 4000 West)
UDOT, in partnership with West Jordan City and Jordan Valley Water Conservancy district, is providing drainage and utility improvements, a new road surface, curb, gutter, and sidewalks along 7800 South. Minor finishing work for this project will take place between 2700 West and 3800 West this spring and summer.
9. Bangerter Intersection Improvements at 9000 South
UDOT has completed the implementation of mobility and safety improvements at the intersection of 9000 South and Bangerter Highway. This work added a second left-turn lane from east/westbound 9000 South to north/southbound Bangerter.
