COTTONWOOD CANYONS
TRANSPORTATION ACTION PLAN

Regional mobility and equity between the canyons indicated a need for a robust approach that is beyond the scope and immediate needs of Little Cottonwood Canyon alone. To consider longer term needs for both canyons, a working relationship between the Central Wasatch Commission (CWC) and the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has been developed to conduct additional planning and decision-making efforts. The Cottonwood Canyons Transportation Action Plan began in Spring 2019 and will look at transit, tolling, congestion, pedestrian and bike facilities, and parking facilities. The intended outcome of this plan is to develop a prioritized list of actions and improvements to the Canyons, and to integrate short- and long-term solutions for both canyons.

The role of CWC is to engage stakeholders, coordinate with CWC members, facilitate and lead discussion of transportation goals with the CWC Stakeholder Council. CWC is not supplanting UDOT on transportation decisions for state roads.
