Current Status

Work continues on the I-215 and Redwood Road projects. Many activities are taking place simultaneously throughout the project limits:
I-215 is undergoing concrete repair and replacement in both directions from 2100 North to I-15.
  • Concrete paving is complete on I-215 between Redwood Road and 2100 North. While it appears no work is being done, concrete pavement is required to cure for 7-14 days before opening to traffic. The northbound I-215/Legacy Parkway traffic split is still in effect. Single lane closures may be in place during non-peak hours.
  • Beginning Friday, July 20 at 10 a.m., the southbound ramp from I-15 to I-215 will be reduced to one lane for concrete paving. This configuration will remain in effect through Monday, July 23, at 5 a.m.
  • Westbound I-215 is REDUCED TO ONE LANE at the Redwood Road interchange. Construction-related congestion is anticipated during this work, so be alert for slowing and backing traffic to avoid rear end collisions.
  • Stabilization of the ground where the new bridge will be built is ongoing. Work includes import of new base materials, footing preparations, and wall installation. Due to the soft soil conditions, a large amount of material has been imported to help with compaction and settling. It will appear that no work is taking place on the new structure while settlement stabilizes.
Redwood Road:
Beginning Friday evening, July 20, at 10 p.m., and continuing nightly* from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., until complete, crews will begin installation of an upgraded 18-inch water line in the intersection of Redwood Road and Center Street in North Salt Lake. This activity requires alternating closures of the east and west legs of the intersection.
  • North- and southbound Redwood Road will remain open.
  • Center Street will experience rotating closures from 700 West to Redwood Road and from Redwood Road to Cutler Drive. Please follow posted detours.
*In observance of Pioneer Day, waterline work will be suspended Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights (July 22-24). Work will resume Wednesday night at 10 p.m.
Pavement rehabilitation on Redwood Road involves removing and replacing 3 inches of asphalt pavement between 500 South and Center Street through July.
  • Pavement work is scheduled to take place nightly from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Construction may require temporary lane closures, alternating one-way traffic with flagging operations, and temporary access closures.
  • Nearby residents should expect increased noise and vibration associated with construction.
Traffic on Redwood Road between Center Street and I-215 is shifted to the east while crews work on the west side of the roadway. Southbound lanes may be reduced to one lane during non-peak hours. Plan ahead and expect delays. Business access will be maintained. No U-turns permitted between I-215 and Center Street. Expect severe congestion during rush hours.
Schedules may change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
