WELCOME TO GENEVA ROAD
Geneva Road is one of the primary north-south corridors connecting Provo to Pleasant Grove. As the area continues to grow, UDOT is planning to expand Geneva Road to improve travel for all of its users. Improvements to Geneva Road will include widening the road to 5 lanes (including a center turn lane) between University Parkway and 1600 North in Orem and building a bridge over the railroad tracks near 400 South in Orem.
Construction Zone Safety
Construction work zones present a challenge to drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists and construction crews. Construction workers are performing difficult tasks with live traffic just a few feet away and drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists are traveling through unfamiliar and often-changing road conditions. This is true with the Geneva Road project. Many areas along the road have little or no shoulder area, which makes it difficult for bicyclists or joggers to stay out of the traffic lane. For their own safety, pedestrians and bicyclists are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes wherever possible.
UDOT's first goal in every construction project is to make sure no one gets hurt. Here are four rules to help you stay safe:
- Do not enter construction zones
- Be alert and careful near construction zones
- Cross only at assigned areas
- Find an alternate route for walking or biking

NEW THIS WEEK
All mainline roadwork on the Geneva Road construction project is now complete. We have widened four miles of roadway, added 60 percent more sidewalk, built a bridge over the railroad tracks at 400 South and improved development and economic potential through this area within the proposed schedule.
All traffic controls (barrels, construction signs, etc.) have been removed from Geneva Road and no future lane restrictions will occur. Work including grading, staining, fencing, landscaping, etc. will continue on the shoulders and off-line through mid-June as the contractor works toward final project closeout.
Community Celebration – May 21
The contractor, Kiewit Western Co., will host a community celebration on Monday, May 21 between 5-6:30 p.m., at the Lakeside Sports Park pavilion located at 400 South 1850 West. Businesses and residents are invited to stroll down the new sidewalk along Geneva Road and come enjoy a thank you hot dog in the park.
