Think Safety
Remember the Safety Rules:
- Obey the posted speed limit
- Leave plenty of space between you and the next vehicle
- Use the designated detour routes
- Obey flaggers and construction signs
- Don't go beyond the barriers or orange fencing
- Don't mess with construction equipment
Safety Tip of the Week
In 2011, 15 people in Utah died from distracted driving accidents. Keep you and your family safe; resist the urge to text or call behind the wheel.

Know What to Expect During Construction
While construction is underway, you can expect to see or experience some of the following:
-
Orange Barrels, Signs & Temporary Fencing
These are important because they indicate where the construction zone is. Staying outside of these boundaries will help keep you safe. -
Heavy Equipment
Construction crews will use a variety of heavy equipment from track hoes, graders and dump trucks to cranes and paving machines. Give them plenty of space. A good rule-of-thumb to stay safe around construction equipment: If you can't see the driver's eyes, the driver can't see you either! So be careful! -
Travel Delays
It's a balancing act - building new roads and bridges and keeping traffic flowing smoothly. Give yourself extra time and space between you and the car in front of you. The construction may be inconvenient for now, but in the end it will be worth it. -
Noise & Dust
All the construction equipment makes noise, some more than others. Please expect some noise. There will also be some dust in the air, especially near areas where bridges are being built. We will do all we can to minimize the noise and keep the project clean and clear of dust and debris. -
Utility Work
Communication lines, water, gas and sewer lines are typically in place around roadways. Crews dig deep trenches so use extra caution. And there may occasionally be service disruptions - planned and unplanned. We'll do our best to give you as much advance notice as we possibly can.
