ATTENTION:
St. George, Utah - May 14, 2012
LANE CLOSURES...
*Motorists traveling through the construction zone should be prepared for intermittent closures or changes on North and South bound I-15 from Monday, May 14 through Thursday, May 17. Roadway crews will add a polymer overlay to the I-15, mainline bridge decks. All work will begin at 7 pm and will be finished by 7 am barring any unforeseen circumstance.
TRAILS...
* Landscape architects are in the final phase of design for vegetation around the new Dixie Drive Trail. This work will begin in June.
*The Confluence Park Trailhead and restrooms are open. The bridge connecting the Virgin River Trail to the Webb Hill Trail is open. City crews are working on the following closures: The trail between the Doctor's Free Clinic and River Road; approximately 1 mile East of River Road; The Santa Clara River Trail between Tonaquint Park and Backyard Gardener and South Bloomington/Sunriver Trail between Bloomington Park and Las Colinas Subdivision. Repairs will be finished by Fall.
*The Hilton Drive Trail is closed.
ROAD CONSTRUCTION...
*Over the last week roadway crews have applied a micro-surface to all of the new roadways on the project.
*A new beautification grant has been received by St.George City from the federal government which will allow the city to begin landscaping the project in June. Landscaping will include rock mulch and trees.
*Installation of barrier pins and patching of parapets continues around the project.
*Sign crews continue to install lane marking delineators around the project. This work will proceed through May.
*Traffic control measures on the Single Point Interchange (SPI) are finished. Crews are working on installing fiber optic lines and traffic signals. Testing of the traffic systems will begin this week.
*All cable barrier on the project is installed. Crews will return this week to re-tension the cables.
*Sign contractors will grout bases and level sign structures this week.
*New wavetronics traffic monitoring equipment is operational at the Hilton Drive and Black Ridge Drive Intersection. It allows East and West bound traffic to maintain a constant flow and only interrupts the flow when traffic is present at the North and South streets. This real-time maintenance of traffic is beneficial to motorists and traffic engineers.
SAFETY...
*All WCC employees, sub-contractors, truck drivers and anyone on-sight must comply with all safety requirements at all times.
*Crews working on The Dixie Drive Interchange Project have scored a 100% on the safety inspection for April. Over the course of the project crews have scored ten perfect scores. Congratulations to everyone working on the project and their commitment to creating a safe work environment.
GOLF COURSE...
*Construction at The Southgate Golf Course is completed.

GENERAL INFORMATION...

*Concrete barriers are installed in the I-15 construction zone.
*Speed limit along I-15 in the construction area is 55 mph.
Fines double in the construction zone.
Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit.
All construction activities and schedules are subject to change due to weather , equipment or unforeseen delays. Please use extreme caution as you travel through the construction zone; obey the posted speed limit and avoid tailgating. In addition, watch for equipment which can enter or exit the highway at any time.
