Funding has been secured, a Design-Build team has been selected and all systems are go for design and construction of the new South Layton Interchange.  Major construction is underway and the estimated completion date is December 2010.  The Design-Build delivery method enables designers to work in conjunction with the construction contractor which will significantly expedite project completion.
 

Project Description

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is pleased to announce construction of the I-15; South Layton Interchange Design-Build project. This project will:

  • Construct a full interchange over I-15 at milepost 330 (just north of the existing Main Street overpass)
  • Remove the existing partial Layton Interchange at milepost 330
  • Reconstruct mainline I-15 between the Kaysville 200 North and Layton Hill Field Road interchanges; this will extend freeway "Lane Gain" improvements northward to include four lanes in each direction (one Express Lane and three General Purpose Lanes
  • Construct a new five lane roadway from Fort Lane to Flint Street (Layton Parkway connection) including a bridge structure over the railroad right-of-way
  • Provide signalized intersections at Flint Street, Main Street, and Fort Lane on the Layton Parkway connection. Construct a new five lane roadway from Fort Lane to Flint Street (Layton Parkway connection)
  • Reconstruct Main Street from the new Layton Parkway to Church Street, including improvements to the Main Street and Gentile Street intersection
  • Remove the existing at-grade railroad crossing at 900 South and construct a cul-de-sac on the west side of the railroad
  • Construct a cul-de-sac at the west end of Larson Lane and a new access road from Larson Lane to the new Layton Parkway
Schedule

This project will be constructed using a design-build delivery method in which designers work in conjunction with the construction contractor in order to expedite the project. Construction will begin in late August 2009 and the estimated completion date is December 2010.
