Legacy Parkway Opens to Traffic September 13, 2008

The state of Utah will celebrate a significant transportation milestone September 13, 2008 with the opening of Legacy Parkway in south Davis County. This innovative project is part of a statewide transportation effort to ease traffic congestion and increase the quality of life for many Utahns.

On the morning of Saturday, September 13th, the Hess Cancer Foundation will host a walk/run/bike event on the roadway (visit tourlegacy.com for details). Following this event, Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr. and other dignitaries will officially open Legacy Parkway to traffic.

To be one of the first to drive on Legacy enter from the south on I-215 near 2100 North or from U.S. 89, I-15 or Park Lane in Farmington in the north at 5 p.m.

What to Expect During Construction

  • Public access during construction
  • The Utah Highway Patrol is monitoring the I-215 construction area. Fines for speeding in a construction zone range from $132 - $432. Please do your part to ensure safety by driving the posted speed limit.
  • Alternate routes for traffic congestion in Farmington
  • Heavy equipment operating hours between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday - Saturday
  • Heavy construction equipment including hundreds of large trucks hauling material (there is currently nighttime hauling in the project area)
  • General construction noise (i.e. back-up alarms, track clanking, diesel engines, etc.)
  • Possible mild vibrations

    Phase 2 Parrish Lane Bridge Widening

  • Occasional Parrish Lane nighttime closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • Occasional I-15 southbound lane restriction during non-peak traffic hours

  • Intermittent nighttime work resulting in construction related noise

    Segment 1

  • Aug. 13 - Sept. 4: The Redwood Road on-ramp that connects to I-15 NB will be closed. Alternate routes to I-15 NB are 2600 South in Woods Cross or Warm Springs Road in North Salt Lake.

    Segment 2

  • Now - Summer 2008: 1250 West at 1000 North will be closed to all traffic.

  • Sheeps Road in Farmington and Centerville is closed to the public.

    Segment 3

  • Wed. Aug. 27, 10 p.m. - 5 a.m., the I-15 northbound on-ramp to Hwy 89 will be closed. Motorists will be directed to Park Lane and then back on to Hwy 89 northbound.

  • Nov. 26 - Fall 2008: The Glover Ln. overpass will be closed for construction. Traffic will be detoured to State St.

  • Lane restrictions on U.S. 89 southbound ramp to I-15 during non-peak traffic hours.
