Work on Legacy Parkway continues on schedule
Work on all three segments of Legacy Parkway is happening concurrently by three separate contractors. The following work is currently taking place in the three construction segments:
- Segment 1 (81% complete): A&W Contractors are installing decorative rock, concrete gutters and grinding the existing roadway at Center St.; grading the parking area, paving the trail and pouring the trail kiosk foundation at 2425 South; and paving the frontage road, paving southbound Legacy and installing berms between 500 South and the segment 2 line. - Segment 2 (84% complete): Ames Construction is installing curb and gutter at the 1200 North and Birnam Woods trailheads; installing railing, painting and irrigation work as well as placing granular borrow, untreated base course and topsoil on mainline Legacy; and paving the trail and southbound Legacy. - Segment 3 (76% complete): This segment spans from just south of Glover Lane in Farmington to tie-ins to I-15, U.S. 89 and Park Lane in Farmington where Clyde-Geneva Contractors are completing the project. Crews have closed Glover Lane through Fall 2008 to excavate and extend the bridge over the top of the new Legacy Parkway. Workers also continue forming and pouring decks and erecting girders on the structures that will tie in Legacy Parkway to I-15 and U.S. 89. Click here to see photos.

Legacy Parkway has been designed to respond to our SEIS commitment to avoid as much wetland impact as possible as well as our negotiated agreement to create a unique Parkway look and feel. We have also worked closely with the communities along the Legacy Parkway corridor -- North Salt Lake, West Bountiful, Woods Cross, Centerville and Farmington -- to find ways to make the Parkway an asset to their communities. Members of our design team met with community leaders and developers, and we have come up with some ideas and concepts that will be exciting and interesting for Parkway neighbors as well as motorists.
