The federal SRTS program provides money for infrastructure projects that help make walking and bicycling near schools safer. These funds can also be used for non-infrastructure projects that  educate children about safe walking and biking or help to encourage children to walk or bike to school.

Several communities were awarded infrastructure funding in April 2011. Awarded projects are expected to be completed Summer 2012 and 2013.

We are currently not accepting any new funding applications, as further SRTS funding will depend on the reauthorization of the transportation bill, and if the SRTS program will be extended.
