Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC)
Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) is the future of bridge construction in Utah. The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Structures Division has widely implemented the use of ABC. To date, UDOT has used precast deck panels, precast abutments, precast approach slabs, and Self Propelled Modular Transports (SPMT). ABC decreases impact to the traveling public, increases quality, and increases safety. UDOT Structures has put forth an initiative to make ABC the standard for all projects by 2010. To support this initiative UDOT has developed typical details for ABC components and techniques.
