Project Overview

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) began a widening project on State Route 201, from State Route 202 to I-80, on June 29th. This project will add one lane eastbound and westbound to SR-201. In order to complete this project a full closure of SR-201 will be necessary for approximately 75 days.

Upcoming Traffic Restrictions

SR-201, from SR-202 to I-80, is closed. Traffic should use SR-202 as a detour route to I-80. The re-opening has been postponed for one week. SR-201 is now anticipated to open on Friday, December 4th. If material availability and weather allows, the road may open earlier that week.

Date: Through December 4th

Restriction: Full closure of SR-201, from SR-202 to I-80

Reasons: Construction of additional eastbound and westbound lane

Details: Employees of Kennecott, Praxair, TDC, and Tru-Flow Systems will be allowed to enter the work zone as local traffic. The speed limit within the work zone is 20 mph. Work currently taking place inside the construction zone includes: Barrier placement and pipeline installation

General Information

The speed limit on SR-201, just east of SR-202 and to the west of the construction, has been reduced to 50 mph. Please observe this speed through the SR-202 intersection and pay attention to your surroundings.

Traffic traveling east on I-80 will not be able to access eastbound SR-201. Traffic traveling west on SR-201 will need to use SR-202 to reach I-80 westbound.


This project is scheduled for completion in December 2009.
