I-15 Utah County Corridor Expansion
Project Web site: www.udot.utah.gov/i15core
Project Location: From Lehi Main Street to Spanish Fork Main Street
Project Schedule:
Project Overview: I-15 CORE expands the freeway by two lanes in both directions from Lehi Main Street to Spanish Fork Main Street; extends the express lane from University Parkway in Orem to Spanish Fork; rebuilds and reconfigures 10 freeway interchanges; replaces and restores 55 bridges; and provides additional improvements that will meet or exceed travel demands through the year 2030 including using 40-year concrete pavement along the entire corridor.
I-15 CORE is needed to alleviate traffic congestion, support economic development, increase safety and accommodate additional population growth. Since 2000, Utah County has been among the top 10 fastest -growing counties in the state. The Governor's Office of Planning and Budget estimates this growth trend will likely continue into 2060.
Traffic Impacts: Please visit the project Web site for current traffic impacts and suggestions on how to TravelWise and ease construction delays for everyone.
All Lanes Are Now Open
In an unprecedented 34 months, Provo River Constructors opened all travel lanes on I-15 CORE. This project is the fastest billion-dollar public highway project built in U.S. history.
Construction work will continue through December with nighttime lane restrictions planned from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, from 10 p.m. Friday to 7:30 a.m. Saturday, and from 10 p.m. Saturday to 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Provo River Construction crews will finish painting retaining walls and barrier, landscaping, installation of traffic data devices, barrier placement and other work.
The Express Lanes are open for carpool use only. Within the next two weeks, Express Pass holders will be able to use the lanes once the fee collection system is operational.
