Phase One:  Work on Phase One of this project, from US-89/91 to 200 North (SR-30) is substantially complete.  Some work will be completed this spring, including the bridge deck at the Logan River, some curb and sidewalk, and landscaping.

Phase Two: Phase Two of this project, from 200 North (SR-30) to 2500 North on 1000 West; and from 1000 West to Main Street (US-91) on 2500 North, will begin with utility work in mid-October.  Roadway construction will begin as soon as weather permits in the spring of 2013.  This phase of the project will include major roadway reconstruction, as well as utility replacements by Logan City.  Watch for announcements in the future about the onset of this work.

Project Overview: The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is constructing needed improvements along the state Road 252 corridor, also known as 10th West in Logan.  The project limits include 1000 West, from its intersection with S.R. 30 (200 North) on the south, to 2500 North, and from 1000 West to 600 West on 2500 North.  The new roadway will be a long-life, 40-year concrete surface.

Project Schedule:  Construction activities include  utility installations and relocation work and paving between 200 North (SR-30) and 2500 North, and from 1000 West to 600 West on 2500 North.  Utility work will get underway in mid-October.  Construction work is currently on hold for the winter and will resume in the spring of 2013.  Major reconstruction of the corridor is being accomplished in phases.  Phase one (from US-89/91 to SR-30/200 North) has been substantially completed.

Project Scope: The roadway design developed for this project will add capacity to meet future roadway use, while responding to corridor and user needs. The general elements of the design are:

• A 5-lane roadway; 2 lanes each direction and a center turn lane to 1400 North, and from 10th West to U.S. 91 (Main Street) on 2500 North.  The section between 1400 and 2500 North on 1000 West will be paved to three lanes (one in each direction with a center turn lane) and cub and gutter and other roadway features added as that area develops, or as traffic warrants it.
• Add right turn lanes at intersections with high traffic demands.
• Include standard-width traffic lanes, shoulders, park strips and sidewalks.
• Include sidewalks on both sides through the residential area, with the west side sidewalk protected from traffic via a wide landscaped parkway. (Complete)
  
• West side homes between 600 and 200 South will access 1000 West via a frontage road system connected at 600 and 200 South, which will maintain smooth traffic flows through this area. (Complete)
  
• Retain the existing traffic signal at 600 South (Complete), and add new signals at intersections that meet traffic warrants and the UDOT-Cache County-Logan City corridor plan.
• Accommodate drainage, irrigation and wetland considerations.
• Facilitate driveway consolidation where practical.
• Provide for upgraded roadway surface.

Public Involvement: Key involvement activities include site visits and update meetings with property owners, public open houses, local government workshops and formation of a community-based review committee to provide ongoing citizen input and ensure local issues are addressed during construction.
