MAPS OF ALTERNATIVES

Two roadway alternatives in Salt Lake County and three roadway alternatives in Utah County are under consideration for detailed study in the Draft EIS. Detailed maps of these alternatives are available below. Transit alternatives have also been considered and are being carried forward for detailed study. For more information on transit, click here. In addition, the project team is also studying a variety of funding options, including tolled and non-tolled options, for the project. For more information about funding, click here.

No final decisions about alignments or funding will be made until impacts of each alternative are understood and evaluated. A variety of impacts on the natural and built environment are being considered, including residential, social, economic, wildlife, and wetlands, among others. SALT LAKE COUNTY

The two roadway alternatives in Salt Lake County under consideration in the Draft EIS are located at 5800 West and 7200 West and share the same alignment south of 5400 South. UDOT has identified 5800 West as the department's preferred roadway alternative for Salt Lake County; however, both 5800 West and 7200 West will continue to be analyzed as part of the ongoing Environmental Impact Statement. UTAH COUNTY

The Utah Department of Transportation has identified 2100 North Freeway as the department's preferred roadway alternative for the proposed Mountain View Corridor in Utah County. The three roadway alternatives under consideration for Mountain View Corridor in Utah County are Southern Freeway (at 1900 South), 2100 North Freeway and the Arterials (Porter Rockwell, 2100 North, 1900 South). The Mountain View Corridor team is taking a more definitive look at the transit options in Utah County. To read more details about the preferred alignment selection, click here.

Southern Freeway, 2100 North Freeway and the Arterials alternatives will continue to be analyzed as part of the ongoing EIS. The final alternative selection will not be made until the alternatives' impacts and comments on the EIS and from the public hearings have been fully evaluated by the Federal Highway Administration. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement public hearing is expected in Fall 2007. The Record of Decision (ROD) on the preferred alternative and the EIS by the Federal Highway Administration is expected in 2008. The ROD will contain FHWA's final decision on the project.
