Welcome to Mountain View Corridor, Salt Lake County
The Mountain View Corridor (MVC) is a planned freeway in western Salt Lake County and northwestern Utah County, servicing 13 municipalities.
Which section of MVC opens on June 2?
On June 2, a two-mile section of MVC, from 12600 South to Rosecrest Drive (14400 South), will open to the public. UDOT coordinated with the local communities to open this section of MVC early to help ease traffic congestion in the area. The remainder of MVC will open later in 2012. At 10 a.m. the day of the opening, UDOT, Riverton and Herriman will host an opening celebration and 5K Fun Run on the newest pavement you’ll ever tread. Come discover the new road and celebrate with your neighbors. Watch the Navigation Video. More Information
What is currently being constructed in Salt Lake County?
Initial construction of MVC in Salt Lake County builds two lanes in each direction from 5400 South to Redwood Road (at approximately 16000 South). The initial 15-mile segment will include signalized intersections where MVC crosses local roads and will preserve the land in the middle for future expansion. Initial construction in Salt Lake County began in summer 2010 and will be complete by the end of 2012.
How do I navigate the flashing yellow left-hand turn signals?
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and several jurisdictions throughout Utah are among the first in the United States to implement new flashing left-turn arrows. These new signals will be installed in place of the old, simple circular green signals, yet the meaning is still the same: You may proceed into the intersection, but before making your left turn you must yield to oncoming traffic until your turn can be made safely. Click here for additional information regarding the new signals that will be installed on the Mountain View Corridor project.
What are the utility relocations taking place as part of MVC?
MVC is preparing utilities now for future road construction. In Salt Lake County, MVC has acquired property as part of a coordinated effort with utility companies to relocate existing power lines and to construct new lines within the MVC utility corridor.
