Bangerter Highway at 13400 South, CFI

UDOT is proposing to make roadway improvements to address current and future congestion, traffic delays, and resulting safety problems at the intersection of Bangerter Highway and 13400 South. A Draft Categorical Exclusion (CE) has been prepared which assess the project’s effects on the quality of human health and the environment in accordance with the provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. 02/10/2012 -- UDOT Region One Road Construction Report for February 10-16, 2012

02/08/2012 -- UDOT using temporary thru turn to reduce traffic impacts during construction of new interchange on Bangerter Highway

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will implement a temporary “ThrU Turn” on Bangerter Highway at 7800 South this weekend to reduce impacts during construction of a new interchange. The ThrU Turn design will redirect left turns away from the intersection while reducing congestion and improving safety for commuters and construction crews. Motorists traveling northbound or southbound on Bangerter who want to turn left at the 7800 South intersection will travel through the main intersection, make a U-turn at a signal controlled location, and come back to the intersection from the opposite direction to turn right. Movements for eastbound and westbound along 7800 South traffic will remain the same.

13400 South, Bangerter Highway to Mountain View Corridor

Riverton City and UDOT have selected Wadsworth Brothers Construction to reconstruct 13400 South. The final result of this reconstruction will be:

- A wider roadway with three travel lanes in each direction
- A concrete driving surface
- Shoulders, curb and gutter
- Sidewalks
- A reconfigured intersection at 4150 West
- Improved street lighting and traffic signals
- Improved drainage conditions

Reconstruction activities are scheduled to begin early to mid-February and continue through late Summer of 2012. Construction activities are expected to occur Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 6 pm. Residents, businesses and commuters can expect lane restrictions, reduced speeds, noise and vibration during this time.

Project Overview: I-15 CORE expands the freeway by two lanes in both directions from Lehi Main Street to Spanish Fork Main Street; extends the express lane from University Parkway in Orem to Spanish Fork; rebuilds and reconfigures 10 freeway interchanges; replaces and restores 55 bridges; and provides additional improvements that will meet or exceed travel demands through the year 2030 including using 40-year concrete pavement along the entire corridor.

I-15 CORE is needed to alleviate traffic congestion, support economic development, increase safety and accommodate additional population growth. Since 2000, Utah County has been among the top 10 fastest -growing counties in the state. The Governor's Office of Planning and Budget estimates this growth trend will likely continue into 2060.
