2012 Renovate I-80 Projects

Renovate I-80 includes all UDOT construction projects on or near I-80 from Tooele County to the Wyoming state line. Click on each of the barrels below to learn more information about each individual project.

Title: SR-36 Resurfacing, I-80 to Stansbury Park
Project Type: Resurfacing
Schedule: June 2012
Project Alerts: Lane restrictions will begin Oct. 11 and will continue for up to 24 hours a day, seven days a week through early spring (excluding holidays and high traffic times from 6 to 9 a.m. and from 3 to 10 p.m. on weekdays).
Additional lane restrictions will take place Oct. 18 and will continue for up to 24 hours a day, seven days a week through early spring (excluding holidays and high traffic times from 6 to 9 a.m. and from 3 to 10 p.m. on weekdays).
Even more lane restrictions will take place Oct. 20 and will continue for up to 24 hours a day, seven days a week through early spring (excluding holidays and high traffic times from 6 to 9 a.m. and from 3 to 10 p.m. on weekdays).
Project Summary: UDOT will repave SR-36 from I-80 to Stansbury Park and construction is scheduled to take place in June.

Title: I-80 Resurfacing, Silver Creek Junction
Project Type: Resurfacing
Schedule: June through September 2012
Project Alerts: There are currently no alerts for this project.
Project Summary: UDOT will repave I-80 this summer from the Park City fire station to the U.S. 40 junction, including interchange ramps. Construction is scheduled to begin in June and extend into September. Motorists should anticipate lane restrictions 24 hours a day with intermittent ramp closures at times. Minimal traffic congestion is anticipated during this work.

Title: I-80 Climbing Lane, Lambs Canyon to Summit Park
Project Type: Resurfacing
Schedule: Summer 2012

Project Summary: Crews will perform a final pavement overlay and striping of new climbing lane from Lambs Canyon to Summit Park. Motorists should anticipate periodic lane closures and minimal traffic delays during this project.

Project Summary: UDOT will repave I-80 this summer from Emory to Castle Rock. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-June and will last into September. Motorists should anticipate one-lane closures day and night with minimal traffic congestion during this time.

Title: I-80 Wanship Bridges & Resurfacing

Schedule: April through August 2012
Project Alerts: A signalized one-lane restriction will take place on SR-32 through May. Motorists should anticipate minor delays.
Project Summary: Construction near the Wanship Interchange will begin late April, 2012. This summer crews will replace the eastbound and westbound bridges over SR-32, reconstruct SR-32 at the Wanship Interchange and resurface I-80 from Wanship to Coalville. Daytime and nighttime work will be necessary to complete these projects. Motorists should anticipate moderate traffic congestion and an overnight closure on I-80 for the eastbound and westbound bridge moves.

Project Summary: UDOT will perform a final pavement overlay to tie in the new eastbound and westbound bridges at the Weber River. Motorists should anticipate various lane closures and other minor delays while crews complete the project. All construction is weather dependent.

The new eastbound and westbound bridges at the Weber River were built alongside I-80 and were moved into place over night using Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) Technology in early 2012.

Title: I-80 Cable Barriers, Castle Rock to Wyoming state line
Project Type: Resurfacing
Schedule: May through August 2012

Project Summary: UDOT will install approximately six miles of new cable barrier in various locations from Echo Junction to the Wyoming state line. Construction is scheduled to begin in May and will take place Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Motorists should anticipate shoulder closures and lane restrictions with minimal traffic congestion during this time. Please note that all construction is weather dependent.
