Commitments To The Public

A public information coordinator (PIC) will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to answer questions and concerns from the public about construction. Click here for the PIC's contact information.

The project team will keep a number of commitments to the public to minimize inconveniences, such as:

  • Performing the majority of the work at night.
  • Maintaining two lanes of traffic in each direction during daytime peak hours, Monday through Saturday.
  • Opening five lanes of traffic between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day.
  • Providing safe access to businesses at all times during construction.
  • Building the project in segments to limit the duration of construction in front of businesses.
  • Partnering with businesses to allow the contractor early access to accelerate the project schedule.
  • Creating a local Business District Advisory Board to help evaluate contractor incentives disincentives.
  • An aggressive public information plan to keep stakeholders informed around the clock.
  • Implementing noise, water and dust control measures; maintaining a reasonable level of cleanliness and removing unused/unnecessary traffic control equipment.
  • Fully restoring any landscaping or vegetation disturbed during construction.
  • Utilizing accelerated construction techniques for the I-84 and I-15 bridges to minimize traffic impacts while the bridges are being built.

UDOT accelerated the project schedule by hiring the contractor early to perform advance work prior to the major construction phase. These include utility relocations, excavation, and pipe installations to clear the way for the pavement reconstruction. This approach will reduce the overall duration of construction work within the business corridor by several months.

Schedule

The project team is diligently seeking to accelerate the project to minimize the duration of construction within the busy Riverdale Road corridor. The tentative construction schedule is as follows:
