SNAP is part of the federal Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program, administered through the Federal Highway Administration.

Federal SRTS funding is used for two purposes:

1. Create programs that:

Educate children about how to walk and bike safely

to school

Encourage children to use these healthy modes

of transportation to get to school

2. Construct infrastructure improvements, such as     sidewalks, that increase the safety of children     walking and biking to school
