2000 West Syracuse to West Point

Construction Activities This Week: 08/16/18 - 08/23/18
  • Crews are now finishing preparations to reopen 2000 West between Antelope Drive and 1275 South, including sign installation and permanent striping. This section will reopen Friday evening, Aug. 17. Landscaping work in this section will continue throughout next week, including installation of sprinklers, topsoil, sod, and stamped concrete.
  • Concrete paving in and near the 2000 West/300 North intersection has begun and will take several weeks to complete, including roadway, curb, gutter, and sidewalk.
  • The 470 North/2000 West intersection is currently being built, including leveling and road base placement. This area is scheduled to be paved with asphalt near the end of next week.
  • Road excavation and utility work continues on the east side of 2000 West, from 1275 South to Heritage Parkway, to prepare the road for paving. This process is expected to be completed by the end of next week. Paving in the area is planned to begin on Sept. 7.
  • Signs will be installed, and permanent striping will be placed, near and in the SR-193/2000 West intersection beginning Friday. This activity is anticipated to be completed within one week.
  • Stamped concrete, and other miscellaneous concrete, placement will take place on an intermittent basis on the east side of 2000 West from SR-193 to 300 North. Landscaping work also continues in this area.
  • Street lighting continues to be installed throughout the project.
  • Intermittent asphalt paving may take place along the corridor from Antelope Drive to 300 North as crews patch pipe trenches and pave tie-ins. Lane shifts and shoulder closures may occur.
  • Intermittent utility work will continue throughout Summer 2018. Intermittent lane shifts and shoulder closures may occur during these times, so please be aware and watch for signage.

Schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather, equipment issues, or other unforeseen circumstances.

Long-Term Closure In Effect
Antelope Drive through 1275 South on 2000 West is now closed to all through-traffic until August 18. Detour routes include: SR-193, 700 South, and Antelope Drive to 1000 West or 3000 West. Please utilize designated detour routes, as they will get vehicles back on track in the easiest, safest way.
Local Resident Access
Access will be provided at Antelope Drive for those living at Hunter's Cove and moving southward. Please reference the map below. Access will be provided at 1275 South for those wishing to access areas past Hunter's Cove moving northward. All access points will be signed for residents living within the work zone. Please be alert and follow the signage as access points may change as the project continues. 
Utility Shutoffs
  • Utility companies may schedule intermittent shutoffs to accomplish their work. They will provide advance notice where applicable.  
  • CenturyLink is planning to do extensive utility work along the SR-108 project corridor. They are utilizing Fugal as a subcontractor for the job. If you have any questions or concerns regarding CenturyLink, please reach out to Brian May with Fugal at: 801-394-3752.
Traffic Alerts
  • Traffic switches are planned near the 300 North/2000 West intersection for Aug. 28 and Sept. 5. More information will follow in the coming weeks. 
  • To accommodate the work between SR-193 and 300 North, there will be intermittent closures at 150 North, 100 North, and 75 South.
  • Intermittent turn lane, shoulder, and median restrictions may occur.
West Point Batch Plant Operations
  • The West Point Batch Plant near 75 North and 2000 West will continue operations through early winter 2018.
  • Nearby residents and businesses should expect increased noise, light, and vibration associated with construction.

HAWK Signal

• When using the HAWK:
1. Push the button and wait for the signal lights to turn on
2. Look Left
3. Look Right
4. Look Left one more time, and . . . 
5. Make eye contact with the driver of an approaching vehicle, so that you make sure that you see them, and that they see you and understand that you want to cross.
6. Cross the street ONLY when the WALK symbol is on and the vehicle has stopped, or completely passed the crosswalk

2000 West Project Team Goals
  • Provide a safe, high quality project that meets current and future traffic demands
  • Achieve a high level of satisfaction with motorists, property owners, and all stakeholders
  • Minimize traffic impacts and maintain safety, mobility, and access during construction
  • Safely accommodate and support pedestrian, bicycle, and transit use
  • Begin construction in the spring of 2017 with completion by November 2018
  • Complete the project under the $50 million budget
