2000 West Syracuse to West Point

Construction Activities This Week: 04/26/18 - 05/03/18
  • Concrete paving from 1275 South to Heritage Parkway, on the west side of 2000 West is now underway, and will take several weeks to complete. Please do not walk or drive on new concrete, as it requires many days of cure time. 
  • Landscaping work on the west side of 2000 West from Heritage Parkway to 300 North is now underway, and will continue for the next few weeks.
  • On Monday night, April 30, crews are scheduled to do work in the 2000 West/SR-193 intersection. Work will start at 7 p.m. and continue through 6 a.m. A police officer will be on-site to direct traffic, so please be alert and watch for instructions.
  • Extensive utility work continues on the east side of 2000 West from SR-193 to 300 North, and will continue through Spring 2018. For those wanting to access 2000 West from the east side of this section, suggested routes include 300 North or SR-193. Avoid taking 150 North, 100 North, and 75 South if possible, but when using these roads, please utilize the dirt ramps onto 2000 West and do not travel down the work zone.
  • Intermittent asphalt paving may take place along the corridor from 300 North to Antelope Drive as crews patch pipe trenches. Lane shifts and shoulder closures may occur.
  • Intermittent pipe placement and utility work will continue, weather permitting, throughout Spring 2018. Intermittent lane shifts and shoulder closures may occur during these times, so please be aware and watch for signage.

Schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather, equipment issues, or other unforeseen circumstances.

Long-Term Closure of Access Point Coming this Summer
The business access to Fiiz/Wendy's/Walmart/etc. on 2000 West will be closed from June 1 through August 17 to allow crews to expedite the work needed between the Elementary and Junior High School over the summer, when school is not in session. Additional details to be announced.
Utility Shutoffs
  • Utility companies may schedule intermittent shutoffs to accomplish their work. They will provide advance notice where applicable.  
  • CenturyLink is planning to do extensive utility work along the SR-108 project corridor. They will be working throughout the entire project as well as in areas near 700 South to SR-193, and the west side of 2000 West from SR-193 to 300 North. If you have any questions or concerns regarding CenturyLink, please reach out to their customer service department at: 800-244-1111.  
Traffic Alerts
  • This weekend, to accommodate paving, there will be one lane in each direction from 1275 South to Heritage Parkway, with no turn pocket. Please be aware of this change and watch for traffic control devices.
  • To accommodate the utility work between SR-193 and 300 North, there will be intermittent closures at 150 North, 100 North, and 75 South.
  • No parking is allowed within 50 feet of the newly installed HAWK Signal near Syracuse Elementary and Syracuse Jr. High.
  • Intermittent turn lane, shoulder, and median restrictions may occur. 
  • Intermittent lane shifts may occur for utility work and pipe placement through Spring 2018.

West Point Batch Plant Operations

  • The West Point Batch Plant near 75 North and 2000 West in West Point is now operational and will continue operations through early winter 2018.
  • Nearby residents and businesses should expect increased noise, light, and vibration associated with construction. 


Substantial completion of the project is projected for Winter 2018.

• When using the HAWK:
1. Push the button and wait for the signal lights to turn on
2. Look Left
3. Look Right
4. Look Left one more time, and . . . 
5. Make eye contact with the driver of an approaching vehicle, so that you make sure that you see them, and that they see you and understand that you want to cross.
6. Cross the street ONLY when the WALK symbol is on and the vehicle has stopped, or completely passed the crosswalk

2000 West Project Team Goals
  • Provide a safe, high quality project that meets current and future traffic demands
  • Achieve a high level of satisfaction with motorists, property owners, and all stakeholders
  • Minimize traffic impacts and maintain safety, mobility, and access during construction
  • Safely accommodate and support pedestrian, bicycle, and transit use
  • Begin construction in the spring of 2017 with completion by November 2018
  • Complete the project under the $50 million budget
