S.R. 108 PROJECT INFO
2000 West  •  3500 West  •  Midland Drive

Construction is under way to widen or re-stripe SR-108 to three lanes (one lane in each direction with a center turn lane) from Antelope Drive (1700 South) in Syracuse to 1900 West in West Haven.

The full project features resurfacing and chip-sealing the nine-mile stretch of roadway, adding right-turn lanes at select intersections.

Work is completed on the majority of the project, though some work is expected to continue through late fall as weather permits. Some remaining work may be completed in 2010.

One lane of traffic will be open in each direction most of the time and crews will generally work during weekday hours, though some weekend shifts may occasionally be needed. Because of the large concentration of residences on the corridor, night work will be kept to a minimum.

   Weekly construction updates available here.

During construction, crews will maintain reasonable access to resident driveways and businesses as much as possible. On-street parking and access to driveways will be restricted when crews are actively working in a particular area. In some areas, however, on-street parking may be eliminated once the three-lane project is complete.

Motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes or plan ahead for extra commute time, and pay attention to construction zone speed limits. Fines are doubled for speeding in the construction zone.

The three-lane project includes:

  • One lane in each direction from Antelope Drive to 1900 West
  • A center turn lane along the length of the corridor (in some areas, a center turn lane already exists)
  • Adding right-turn lanes at select intersections
  • Re-surfacing (chip-sealing) the roadway and re-painting lane stripes
Sidewalks, curb, gutter and bike lanes are generally not part of this plan; however, in a few areas, new sidewalk, curb and gutter will be installed to provide connections and facilitate drainage.

Related Projects
Two additional UDOT projects are also in active construction at both ends of this project corridor:

On the south end of SR-108 at 2000 West, the Syracuse Road (1700 South) between 1000 West and 2000 West, is being widened to five lanes on an east-west section of SR-108. More information on this project is available at: www.udot.utah.gov/syracuseroad .

On the north end, the SR-79/Hinckley Drive Extension (3100 South) will tie into SR-108 (Midland Drive). More information is available at: www.udot.utah.gov/hinckleydrive .
