A project to widen or re-stripe SR-108 to three lanes (one lane in each direction with a center turn lane) from Antelope Drive (1700 South) in Syracuse to 1900 West in West Haven is wrapped up for the 2009 season. Thank you for your patience while crews completed roadway improvements on S.R. 108.
December 2009 Update - Midland Drive lane striping
Crews are planning to paint lane stripes on Midland Drive between 4000 South and 1900 West in West Haven/Roy, to complete the three-lane configuration in this area.
While widening and paving is complete, the striping process has been delayed due in part to weather, work related to the Hinckley project, and relocation of utility poles. Work will be performed once weather allows.
The full project featured resurfacing and chip-sealing the nine-mile stretch of roadway, adding right-turn lanes at select intersections. In spring 2010, crews will return to apply a chip seal to some areas, including sections of 2000 West and Midland Drive.
The three-lane project included:
- One lane in each direction from Antelope Drive to 1900 West
- A center turn lane along the length of the corridor (in some areas, a center turn lane already existed)
- Adding right-turn lanes at select intersections
- Re-surfacing (chip-sealing) the roadway and re-painting lane stripes
Sidewalks, curb, gutter and bike lanes were generally not part of this plan; however, in a few areas, new sidewalk, curb and gutter were installed to provide connections and facilitate drainage.
