S.R. 108 (2000 West - 3500 West - Midland Drive)
Construction Update - 11/06/09
Here's what to expect over the next week:
- 1175 South to 700 South (Syracuse): Utility crews will be working in this area.
- 700 South to 800 North (Syracuse and West Point): Road work is finished in this area. Crews will be completing minor landscaping items and mailbox installations in the coming weeks.
- 4000 South to 1900 West (Roy/West Haven): Excavation and paving are under way on sections of Midland Drive. Early next week, crews will be paving between 3600 South (S.R. 79/Hinckley Drive Extension) and 1900 West. The following week paving activity will shift to the area between 3600 South and 4000 South. A chip seal will be applied to the roadway in spring 2010.
Please note that due to weather, project conflicts, or equipment/supply issues, schedules are subject to change.
In addition to roadway activities, utility crews will be at work throughout the construction corridor. Intermittent lane reductions may be necessary to provide crews the space to safely operate equipment, though most of the time one lane of traffic will be open in each direction.
CONSTRUCTION NOTES
Driveway tie-ins: Crews will pave from the edge of roadway to the edge of the right-of-way, or to the edge of the existing paved driveway. This work will follow the completion of the main roadwork. More Information By phone: (801) 589-5957 By email: sr108@utah.gov
UTA Route 626 Due to construction on Syracuse Road (1700 South), UTA Route 626 is detoured. Three bus stops on 2000 West (S.R. 108) between 1700 South and 1175 South are temporarily closed; these stops are located on the east side of the street, and are for northbound service only. Bus stops for southbound buses remain open. For full detour information, visit http://www.rideuta.com/ridingUTA/detours.aspx
Related Projects Two additional UDOT projects are also in active construction at both ends of this project corridor:
-On the south end of S.R.108 at 2000 West, Syracuse Road (1700 South), between 1000 West and 2000 West, is being widened to five lanes on an east-west section of S.R.108. More information on this project is available at: www.udot.utah.gov/syracuseroad
-On the north end, the S.R. 79/Hinckley Drive Extension (3100 South) will tie into S.R. 108 (Midland Drive). More information is available at: http://www.udot.utah.gov/main/f?p=100:pg:0:::1:T,V:1905,

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING CONSTRUCTION
Traffic Impacts
- One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction most of the time.
- Plan ahead for extra commute time. Be patient.
- Slow down and pay attention to speed limits. Fines are increased for speeding in a construction zone.
Work Hours Crews will generally work during weekday hours, though some weekend shifts may occasionally be needed. Because of the large concentration of residences on the corridor, night work will be kept to a minimum.
Access for Residents and Businesses During construction, crews will maintain reasonable access to resident driveways and businesses as much as possible. Inevitably, there will be some impacts during construction. For instance:
- New pavement requires 1-2 hours to set up; when crews are paving in front of driveways, access will be limited.
- On-street parking may be restricted during construction; in some areas, on-street parking may be eliminated once the three-lane project is complete. When crews are working in your area, please do not park in the work zone.
- The project team recognizes the inconvenience construction presents, and will coordinate with property owners in advance.
- If you have special considerations pertaining to access, please let the project team know in advance.
