1. Who do I contact if I have questions?

The Public Information Team can be reached at 801-648-8396 or syracuseroadinfo@langdongroupinc.com

2. How long will construction last?

Underground utility work began in late February 2009. The project is expected to end in late spring 2010.

3. Will I have to sell any property?

All property required for the project has been acquired or is currently in process of being acquired.  If you have not been contacted, it is unlikely your property will be affected.

4. What material will be put in the park strip?

The park strip (the public area between the sidewalk and the curb) will be stamped concrete when the project is complete.

5. Will the power be buried underground?

No. The power lines have been moved to poles on the north side of the road and will remain above ground.

6. How will access to my home or business be affected during construction?

Crews will work to keep access open as much as possible during construction; however, paving, installation of sidewalk, curb, and gutter, and underground utility work will all cause temporary access restrictions. The crews will coordinate with affected persons throughout the project.

7. Will there be street lighting?

Yes. UDOT and Syracuse City have chosen decorative lighting fixtures that will be installed as part of this project.

8. Will utilities be replaced or improved?

The project will include new storm drain, culinary water lines, pressurized secondary water and irrigation lines. The lateral sewer service lines within the state's right of way will be replaced as needed.  Questar will also be working within the project area to replace two gas lines.

9. Will there be medians in the road?

Concrete medians will be installed in all four legs of both the 1000 West and 2000 West intersections.

10. Will any new traffic signals be added as part of this project?

UDOT will upgrade and replace the current intersections and traffic signals, including those at 1000 West and 2000 West. There are no new signals planned as part of this project.

11. What will happen to my mailbox that is currently located on the edge of the road?

The project team will coordinate with the postal service to allow regular postal delivery to continue. However, some special accommodations for delivery locations will be required during construction (i.e., mailboxes will likely be relocated farther back onto private property to be out of the construction zone). Following construction, mailboxes will be placed at the new edge of the roadway.

12. I drive in this area frequently, what detours and delays can I expect during construction?

The contractor will be required to keep one lane of traffic in each direction open throughout construction. Left turns may be restricted at times due to the fact that there may be no center turn lane during construction.
