Welcome to the Syracuse Road Project Web Site
UDOT is widening Syracuse Road (Antelope Drive) from 1000 West to 2000 West to five lanes - two travel lanes in each direction with a center lane and dedicated bike lanes. The widened roadway will improve traffic flow in the area and improve safety for local, commuter, and tourist traffic. Construction on the project began in late February 2009 is anticipated to conclude in late spring 2010.
Construction on this project has been scheduled in two phases: Phase I Activities - Construction began end of February and is now complete! Thank you for your patience during the first phase.
• New Culinary water line • New Secondary water line • Irrigation system improvements • Demolition
Phase II Activities - Construction began on this phase in June 2009 and is scheduled to be complete in spring 2010.
• Road widening • Paving • Intersection improvements including decorative crosswalks at 2000 W. and new signals at both 1000 W. and 2000 W. • Later sewer line upgrades • Landscaping • Lighting • Storm Drain • Curb, Gutter and Sidewalk • Signage, striping • *Questar will also be working in the area to replace two gas lines
The Syracuse Road Design Process is Innovative
In a traditional construction project, UDOT brings a contractor on for the construction phase only. On the Syracuse Road project a contractor was brought on during the last phase of design. The contractor provided feedback to the designers to help with the contructability of the design. This type of feedback served to shorten the schedule and save money on this project. Project Area
