Project Need

There is an immediate need to improve traffic flow at 12300 South and Minuteman Drive. The intersection’s current level of service is near failure and traffic flow is being maintained by coordinating signals for east west travel at the expense of local businesses. Drivers currently experience excessive delays of up to two minutes at various turns, and 2030 traffic projections predict delays up to seven minutes. With the possible addition of 3,000-4,000 jobs at companies such as Edwards Lifesciences, Cinemark and The Outlets @ Draper Towne (VF), increased congestion will be a significant challenge that may result in people avoiding the area.

Draper must proactively address current and future congestion to ensure economic prosperity. Waiting will result in serious consequences including increased inconvenience, lost opportunities, lost revenue, and additional expense to build a new intersection.
