Study Overview

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is proposing improvements to 5600 South (SR-97) from 3500 West (SR-108) and modifications to the 5600 South and Interstate 15 (I-15) interchange to address existing and future (projected through year 2050) congestion as well as improve safety. An Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared for this project which defines the scope of the project, potential for environmental impact, and mitigation measures which may reduce adverse enviornmental impacts.

Concept Study: 2016

Environmental Study: Fall 2018 to Fall 2020

  • Summer 2018: Conducted scoping and accepted comments
  • Fall 2018: Defined the transportation problems and developed goals
  • Winter 2019: Developed a range of solutions and identified the Build Alternative
  • Spring 2020: Evaluated the social and environmental impacts resulting from the No-Build and Build Alternatives
  • Summer 2020: EA available for public review including a hearing to solicit comments and answer questions
  • Fall 2020: Respond to public input, finalize EA, and issue decision
