New Region Three Director

Rob Clayton to oversee construction and maintenance of state roads in Utah, Juab, Wasatch, Duchesne, Uintah and Daggett Counties.

UDOT Executive Director Carlos Braceras announced today that Rob Clayton is the new Region Three director.

In this role, Clayton will be responsible for the construction and maintenance of state roads in Utah, Juab, Wasatch, Duchesne, Uintah and Daggett Counties. Clayton replaces Teri Newell, who was appointed as an additional deputy director for UDOT.

Since 2011, Clayton has served as the director of UDOT’s traffic management division. The division is charged with operating a smart transportation network, as using technology to help manage traffic is an excellent way to optimize mobility, reduce delay and increase roadway capacity.

As director of the traffic management division, Clayton helped shepherd the department into the future by overseeing the traffic signal network, advanced traffic management system, and intelligent transportation systems. He also managed the state’s incident management teams, and traveler information on the UDOT Traffic website.

Clayton started working at UDOT in 1997, serving in several roles including maintenance of traffic oversight engineer for the I-15 CORE project, and operations engineer for the traffic management division.

Clayton began his new role on April 23, 2018.
