New Website Introduction
After more than 15 years we’re excited to welcome you to a whole new udot.utah.gov. Check out this brief video introduction.
We worked with Utah Interactive over the last few years to overhaul the old website based on research that involved those who use the website most, the general public, contractors and consultants and our employees. These groups us the internet differently now then they did when the previous site was created and were able to provide useful insight for improvements.
Based on the information we gathered during our research, Utah Interactive designed and developed a website incorporating the ideas that the users mentioned, as well as coming up with their own ideas to help with some of the pain points. A few of these include the search box being front and center, a document specific search and content organized based on audience.
Utah Interactive also recommended building the website using WordPress, a popular content management system. This allows employees with various backgrounds to maintain website information providing more opportunity for keeping the site up-to-date and useful.
Not only did we change the appearance and organization of the site but we also cleaned house. The old website had thousands of pages and downloads and we went through all of them and decided what should transition over. It was an enormous task that involved employees around the department. Many of these employees will continue to be involved in the day-to-day maintenance which will help keep the new site current and useful.
We hope you find the new site useful but we are well aware that the work on a website is never done. We will continue to refine and modify our site to meet our ever changing business so that we can Keep Utah Moving.
