PROJECT UPDATES
Construction Activities March 20 - March 29
Upcoming Activities
Lane Closure
As early as Thursday, March 21, through the end of March, the northbound right turning lane from Redwood Road to eastbound 9000 South will be closed while crews upgrade a water main.
Motorists wishing to turn right will use a shared straight/right lane. Please be prepared for sudden stopping traffic and extended travel time through the corridor.
Ongoing Activities
Crews continue overnight work from 8:00 p.m. through 5:00 a.m. in the intersection of 1300 West 9000 South to install a new canal irrigation line. Due to weather, this work will take place nightly through April 1.
Motorists can expect nighttime lane closures on 9000 South and 1300 West along with periodic closures of southbound 1300 West. When southbound 1300 West is closed, use Redwood Road to 9800 South as an alternate route.
Work on the storm drain, irrigation, and water service lines between Redwood Road and 700 West may require short-term driveway access interruptions. Alternate business accesses are open and posted.
Unscheduled lane shifts and closures are possible for roadway maintenance (pothole repair, line painting, debris removal, etc.).
*Schedule is subject to change due to weather, equipment, or material delays.
Bridge Girder Placement
See the time lapse video of the crews placing the girders on 9000 South over the Jordan River.

Closures
Eastbound 9000 South left turn closed at 700 West
The left turning lane to 700 West from eastbound 9000 South will be closed. This closure is expected to last through Summer 2024. Traffic should use Sandy Parkway (450 West) as the detour route. Click here to see the recommended detour map.
This closure is necessary to ensure safety as there is insufficient room to install a left-turning lane.
Construction Activities 700 West to State Street
Once overnight temperatures are consistently over 50 degrees, crews will begin the asphalt repairs on 9000 South between 700 West and State Street. Once the minimum temperature has been reached and paving activities scheduled, that information will be shared on the weekly update email.
FYI - Daytime paving activities on 9000 South are not encouraged/permitted due to the significant disruption to traffic along this busy corridor thus requiring paving activities to be conducted overnight.
UTA Bus Route F590 - Due to construction activities, the bus stops within work areas may have temporary closures and stop adjustments. Visit UTA's website for specific stop information. |
