UDOT resurfaced an 11-mile segment of U.S. 191 in Indian Canyon from the Carbon/Duchesne County line to Jones Hollow (milepost 271). This area is the next roadway segment south of where the department completed a resurfacing project in 2017. Construction crews used a Cold-in-Place Recycle process where a specific depth of asphalt will be removed and recycled with new asphalt to create a new a three-inch layer of pavement. Once crews finished the asphalt recycling work, they placed a final sealed, gravel surface (chip seal) over the new pavement. This was part of UDOT's pavement preservation program to extend the serviceable life of Utah's roads.
