The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has completed a roadway rehabilitation project on SR-284 around Weber State University's campus. This project will improve safety, traffic flow and extend the lifetime of the roadway. 

Project Improvements:

• Roadway will be resurfaced on Dixon Parkway, Edvalson Street and Village Drive. The top layer of asphalt will be removed (rotomilled) and replaced with a new layer.
• Soft spots (potholes) in the roadway will be repaired prior to paving.
• Pedestrian access ramps on sidewalks will be updated in selected areas to meet current safety standards.
• All road signs will be updated.
• The road width will remain the same, but will be restriped to add bicycle lane designations. A dedicated bicycle lane will be added in uphill areas and a shared vehicle/bicycle lane will be designated in downhill locations.
• New concrete bus pads will be constructed at existing campus bus stops on Edvalson Street to provide safe places for buses to pull over.

What To Expect:

• Crews will maintain one lane of traffic through work zones at all times, directed by flaggers.
• Emergency access will be provided at all times.
• Sidewalks will be temporarily closed in areas where pedestrian ramp work is underway. Detours will be marked.
• Residents in the area should expect daytime construction noise and vibrations during rotomilling and paving operations.
• Crews plan to work Monday-Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. No night work is currently planned.

Project Timeline:

• April 27: Begin work
• Late April - Mid-May: Update selected pedestrian access ramps on sidewalks 
• Mid-May: Lower utility manholes in preparation for paving, complete roadway soft spot repairs.
• Early June - Mid-June: Resurface roadway (rotomill and asphalt overlay), add pavement seal coat to new surface, construct new bus pads
• Mid-June - Late June: Restripe roadway and update signs
• Late June - Early July: Raise utility manholes to grade and complete the project

The project is complete.
