The project included the addition of a southbound truck climbing lane from just south of Scipio to just past the Scipio Summit.  This included the widening of one structure and the addition of the climbing lane.  The project included safety improvements and new signing as well as preserving the existing roadway surface.  In addition, the project added a fiber optic line from the North Holden Interchange, Exit 179, to the Scipio Interchange, Exit 188.  It allows for the installation of an Advance Traffic Management System (ATMS).  This includes more than one Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV), a Road Weather Information System (RWIS) to monitor the roadway conditions for ice and snow and an upgrade to our Automatic Traffic Recording Station (ATR) for counting traffic on UDOT’s highways.  The project also added a WIM (Weigh-in-Motion) system to monitor the weight of trucks passing through the area.  This will provide better mobility for road users.
