UDOT will rehabilitate the pavement along State Route 282 (S.R.282) around the University of Utah campus. The project will reconstruct North Campus Drive and remove and replace asphalt along South Campus Drive and Mario Capecchi Drive. Other improvements include updated pedestrian ramps and some bicycle improvements.
Project impacts to travel can be found on the UDOT Traffic website, www.udot.utah.gov/traffic.
Construction Activities through July:
Mario Capecchi: paving is complete and all lanes are open. Crews will be back as early as July 16 to complete utility work. Evening, single lane closures will be in effect when this work resumes.
South Campus: asphalt removal and replacement is underway. Work on this stretch will move quickly. Pay attention to signage and expect single lane closures during the day and full directional closures on nights and weekends.
North Campus: center island removal will begin Sunday, July 1 between Central Campus Drive and Federal Heights Drive. The saw cutting technique used to remove concrete is very loud. Expect noise, dust, and vibration during construction.
Single lane closures will be in effect during active construction in the evenings. All lanes will be open during the day. **Please note that there will be an edge drop off for both inside lanes. The speed limit is reduced to 15 miles per hour until construction is complete. Please pay attention to signage and traffic control devices, obey the speed limit, and plan extra travel time. Alternate routes are encouraged.
Work hours for all segments of the project are 7pm to 6am.
