Crews continue to complete work on the bridges along State Route 39 at the mouth and at the top of Ogden Canyon. Work on the bridges is expected to continue and will be intermittent throughout the beginning of September. Motorists are encouraged to exercise extreme caution when driving through the work area and should expect some minor delays.
OTHER PROJECTS IN THE AREA:
Beginning September 2019 and continuing through late fall 2019, Ogden City will be installing culinary water meters for neighborhoods and businesses in Ogden Canyon (SR-39). Intermittent lane closures and full road closures will take place throughout construction.
- Crews will be installing a water vault near the Idlewild community. Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic from 7 PM on Wednesday, September 18th to 5 AM on Thursday, September 19th. Access to the Idlewild community will be limited during this work. Residents needing to drive vehicles over the bridge into or out of the Idlewild community will need to check with onsite construction personnel for assistance. Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution when moving through the work zone.
- September 23: Crews will commence asphalt patching in completed vault installation areas throughout the project corridor. Single-lane closures will be enforced and flaggers will be present to direct traffic from 9 AM to 3 PM.
- September 28-29: Crews are TENTATIVELY scheduled to install water vaults near The Cobbles and Hermitage communities. Should this work occur, there will be a hard closure of SR-39 (no through traffic) between The Cobbles and the Alaskan Inn/Hermitage communities beginning at 10 PM on Saturday, September 28th through 5 PM on Sunday, September 29th. Local access to these communities will be extremely limited during this time and may include complete closures. Local residents and businesses between the Alaskan Inn/Hermitage and Pine View Dam will need to access SR-39 from above (east) at Pine View Dam.
On-street parking in the canyon will not be permitted in work zones. Material and equipment staging in the vicinity of SR-39 may temporarily affect left turns. Motorists are encouraged to exercise extreme caution when driving through work areas.
