US-40; Gusher EB Passing Lane & Center Turn Lane

Construction Updates

Crews are completing work on the guard rails and installing remaining project signage this week. No impacts to travel are anticipated. All work will be finished and the project will be officially complete by the end of this week. 

The U.S. 40 project through Gusher was done to improve safety and mobility. The following improvements were made to meet these goals:

• Adding a new center turn lane to reduce the hazards for motorists making left turns off the highway
• Adding a new eastbound passing lane to improve mobility and reduce congestion
• Adding new acceleration/deceleration lanes at major intersections to help motorists and truck traffic safety turn onto and off of the highway

In addition to the added safety features, the project improved utilities along the section of U.S. 40 by burying overhead fiber optic lines and rebuilding/relocating the culinary water system for the Ute Indian Tribe.
