Federal Lands Access Program:
In January 2018, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) started construction on the SR-149 Road Improvement Project. These improvements included widening the travel lanes, improving the shoulder width, and replacing the Brush Creek Bridge.
Roadway widening included widening the roadway 5 feet on each side to accommodate 12-foot wide travel lanes, and 4-foot wide paved shoulders.
Project Quick Facts
• Project Length: 4.2 miles
• Widened travel lanes to 12 feet wide in each direction
• Added roadway shoulders
• Replaced the Brush Creek Bridge
• Roadway improvements enhanced safety for drivers and cyclists, improved mobility, and improved the condition of the road surface
Project Funding
The funding for this project came from a federal program called the Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP). The goal of this program is to provide access to federal lands for all modes of transportation. Because FLAP funds can only be used for improving access to federal lands, this project did not take away funding from other projects in the area.
