VINEYARD CONNECTOR ALIGNMENT OVERVIEW
The Vineyard Connector was identified and studied through a 2008 State Environmental Study (SES) with the purpose of improving regional north-south mobility west of I-15 and east of Utah Lake between Lehi, American Fork, Lindon, Orem, and Vineyard.
In response to transportation system and land use changes in the area since the 2008 SES, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) initiated the Vineyard Connector North Alignment Study in July, 2018.
The Study’s objective was to identify potential alignments in the American Fork/Lehi area that meet the following objectives:
- Minimize impact to existing homes and businesses;
- Minimize impact to important resources such as wetlands, agriculture protection areas, historic structures, and habitat for sensitive species; and
- Consider local transportation, land-use, and economics.
PURPOSE & NEED OF THE PROJECT
The purpose of the proposed project is to improve regional north-south mobility west of I-15 and east of Utah Lake between Lehi, American Fork, Lindon, Orem, and Vineyard; and provide access to the part of Vineyard that includes the former Geneva Steel plant site, which is being redeveloped and will support a Utah Transit Authority transit station.
STUDY UPDATE
The study team completed the first phase of the study, which aimed to identify potential realignments of Vineyard Connector in the American Fork/Lehi area. During this phase, UDOT became aware of an upcoming corridor planning study by the Mountainland Association of Governments (MAG) which will look at east-west connectivity for the Saratoga Springs, Lehi, and American Fork areas. This could potentially affect where or how the Vineyard Connector ties-into Pioneer Crossing. At this time, UDOT has suspended the next phase of environmental analysis to address regional transportation needs for the area until the planning study is complete.

STAY INVOLVED
UDOT encourages public participation in area study efforts to inform planning for a viable and sustainable transportation system in the area. Below are links and resources for you to stay involved and informed.
North Lakeshore Area Study
MAG’s North Lakeshore Area Study’s objective is to identify the regional transportation needs for communities north of Utah Lake, from Saratoga Springs to Vineyard. The North Lakeshore Area Study will address short-term travel demand and long-term facility preservation needs to propose improvements that would alleviate congestion in the corridor through 2050. This study will be conducted over the next 12 months.
