The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is replacing and improving pavement markings on U.S. 189 in Provo Canyon from Mount Timpanogos Park to just east of S.R. 92. Work includes removing the existing lane striping and grinding new lane markings into the concrete pavement. Placing lane markings into shallow grooves helps extend the life of the lane striping by protecting the pavement markings from plow damage and vehicle wear and tear. The new lane striping will also enhance safety for cyclists and motorists by using a reflective paint or tape that provides increased visibility during inclement weather when the road surface is wet.
