UDOT evaluates potential changes to I-15 South Cedar Interchange

Public encouraged to sign up for email updates on the environmental document website.

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has recently started preparing an environmental document, in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), to evaluate potential improvements to the South Cedar Interchange (Exit 57) of I-15 in Cedar City.

This process considers current and future transportation needs while evaluating any potential impacts to the natural and built environments. This effort began in May 2023 and is scheduled for completion in summer 2024. Environmental documents are process driven, so the schedule is approximate and subject to change.

As part of the process, members of the public will be invited to participate in two public meetings and provide feedback during two formal comment periods. The first opportunity will be the Public Scoping Meeting, which is anticipated in Fall 2023.

This environmental document is separate and independent from the Cedar City Solutions Development planning study that began in November 2022 and is examining segments of Main Street (State Route 130) and 200 North (State Route 56). UDOT is overseeing both processes, but one is a planning study that is exploring potential future solutions that could be incorporated into the long-range plan for the specified area and one is an environmental process that will evaluate potential improvements for the I- 15 South Cedar Interchange against an established purpose and need statement.
